Jobing Description

The IT Business Consultant works as a liaison between the IT department and internal operations units, clients, external vendors and any other organizations to clarify and define a new capability or change that has been presented for a potential project. This position works closely with the Project Stakeholders throughout the Conception and Inception phases of a project and continues in a supporting role for the remainder of a project. This position requires a vast knowledge of HealthCare business knowledge. The position operates under the direction of the IT Business Consultant Management Competency Center with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgment and leadership.
Essential Duties
Work with Stakeholders to review and identify the details of the new business capability and/or process change.
Ensure new projects are in line with Meritain s strategic initiatives.
Gather high level estimates for potential projects with various Team Leaders.
Work with Stakeholders to develop detailed IT and Operations information for steering committee approval meeting.
Attend Enterprise Approval Committee meeting with Stakeholders to present business justification for approval of projects.
Review and transition all documentation gathered from initial phases of project to all appropriate Implementation teams once project is approved to move forward.
Continue to play a consultative role throughout the lifecycle of a project.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK)
Experience serving in a role consulting to internal and/or external clients
Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into high level requirements in natural language
Strong attention to detail and solid organization skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to look across the entire organization and see the big picture
Strong project and time-management skills to ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks, and ability to work under pressure and meet goals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts, as well as vendors and customers; altering communication style and levels of detail for the appropriate audience
Knowledge of all phases of system development life cycle, preferably several different methods including Agile, RUP, and waterfall.
Willingness to travel on occasion to remote offices.
Willingness to work outside business hours on occasion
Willingness to take on additional project roles/functions if required
Self motivated

Qualification Standards
Four-year college degree in business, information systems, or a related field or a combination of technical and business education, training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position
Third Party Administration and/or Insurance Industry experience preferred
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project, Vision, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
